Will jui jitsu get me in shape or should i take a kick boxing class?
I like and watch the UFC and i was interested in taking jui jitsu classes, but i wasn't sure if that would get me in shape, but the place i was looking at also offered and kick boxing and MMA class and i was wondering if i should take those classes instead?
your quesiton is to get in shape. kick boxing is more aerobic, while bjj is more anaerobic, requiring explosive quick movement with a few seconds of slow pace rolling in between. i'd say jj is harder when it comes to conditioning. a lot of people come from kickboxing to jj and get winded quick. most likely mma combines both of them, so to get in shape i'd do mma.
too many people see "MMA classes" and immediately think its the best class because it combines them and as a sport is well rounded. But looking at the best fighter, they start off great at one thing and eventually build up there weaknesses to become well rounded. i'd say its better to be great at sumthin and okay at everything else, then be good at everything. chris lytle is good at everything, Sanchez is good at everything, but i dont see them becoming champions.
to get in shape, do mma.
to become skilled, do jj and/or kickboxing and incorporate mma in later once you have a good base in jj and/or kickboxing.
