Which weight class should I stay in?
I am currently into about month 6 of training for MMA, which covers all the basics-boxing, jiujitsu, muay thai, and I'm even doing a little judo for the extra cardio work and body mechanics understanding. I'm 6'0'', 229 lbs with roughly 17 percent body fat. I would say my strengths are my speed and power (carry overs from days of college football), my reach and my speed. What I would like are some suggestions (based on the metrics above and the overall state of competition in the respective fighting styles I'm studying) on whether I should stay a pure heavyweight and look to put on muscle, or seek to work hard on shedding body fat into the single digits and try to become a light heavyweight (MMA) and cruiserweight (boxing).
